SCHOOLS & PUBLIC SECTOR

School and Public Sector Security

Accountable security and CCTV for schools, campuses, healthcare estates, council buildings and public car parks.

DUTY OF CARE

Security for schools and public buildings

Schools, hospitals and public buildings have a duty of care to students, staff, patients and visitors, often on tight budgets and in busy, sensitive settings. Security has to reassure without intimidating, and it has to be documented well enough to stand up to scrutiny. It must also offer value for money, so cover is matched to real risk rather than applied as a blanket solution.

Pride K9 provides SIA-licensed officers, NASDU-approved dog units for out-of-hours work, monitored cameras and clear reporting on every shift. Cover can be arranged for primary and secondary schools, colleges, healthcare estates and local authority buildings of any size. Officers are vetted and briefed on each environment, whether that is a school gate, a hospital site or a council car park.

THE RISK

Common security issues in the public sector

During the day, the priority is managing who comes on site and supporting safeguarding. Out of hours, empty school buildings and public sites can attract antisocial behaviour, trespass, vandalism and arson, particularly during evenings, weekends and holidays. Healthcare sites run around the clock, so officers need to handle distressed or frustrated visitors calmly while keeping entrances and staff areas secure. Council buildings and public car parks face a mix of both, with daytime footfall and quiet, exposed periods at night.

  • Unauthorised visitors on school grounds
  • Antisocial behaviour and vandalism after hours
  • Break-ins during holiday closures
  • Theft and damage in staff and public car parks
  • Conflict at receptions and front desks

CCTV FOR SCHOOLS

CCTV for schools and public sites

Monitored cameras help schools, academies, colleges and public bodies keep watch over entrances, perimeters, playing fields and car parks when no one is there. When a camera detects motion, a clip is sent to the Alarm Receiving Centre, where an operator checks it and follows the escalation plan you have agreed.

Our wireless security cameras run on battery and solar power, so they can be placed on fields, temporary buildings or construction works on a school site without new cabling. Access to footage is restricted to authorised personnel, and we are ICO registered. Footage is kept for 31 days unless the authorities need it for longer. Cameras can be combined with alarm response so that confirmed activity is attended by an officer rather than a member of staff.

FAQs

School security FAQs

Are your officers suitable for working in schools?

Our officers are SIA-licensed, vetted and briefed on each environment before they start. For schools, the briefing covers your safeguarding procedures, visitor process and key contacts, so officers can provide a calm, professional presence at gates, grounds and reception from the first day.

Do you use security dogs at schools?

Dog units are generally used out of hours, when the site is closed, to deter trespass, vandalism and antisocial behaviour across grounds and car parks. During the school day, cover is normally provided by uniformed officers, with arrangements agreed with the school in advance.

How does CCTV for schools work during holidays?

Monitored cameras send motion-triggered clips to the Alarm Receiving Centre, where operators review them and follow your escalation plan. This allows a closed school to be watched around the clock, with patrols or alarm response called when genuine activity is detected. Camera positions are agreed with the school beforehand.

Can you provide security for NHS and healthcare sites?

Yes. We provide SIA-licensed officers for hospitals, clinics and healthcare estates, focused on a reassuring presence, access control and calm handling of conflict, along with car park patrols, key holding and out-of-hours cover for buildings that close in the evening.

What reporting do public sector clients receive?

Clients receive documented reports for every shift, including patrols completed and any incidents, so there is a clear record for internal review, insurers and audit. The format and frequency can be agreed at the start of the contract to fit your governance requirements.
