Security for Specialist and High-Theft Sites

Tailored protection for sites holding high-value plant, stock, animals or irreplaceable property, where standard security plans fall short.

WHY THEY ARE DIFFERENT

When off-the-shelf security is not enough

Some sites carry risks that a standard package does not cover. A plant hire depot can hold machinery worth far more than the building it sits in. A church roof may be lined with lead that cannot be replaced like for like. A film set can be full of expensive equipment in an unfamiliar location for just a few days.

These sites are targeted because what they hold is valuable, easy to sell or difficult to replace. Thieves often plan ahead, so security has to be visible enough to deter and responsive enough to act if someone tries anyway. Many of these sites also have people on them, whether staff, riders, visitors, crew or holidaymakers, so the approach has to protect property without getting in the way of how the site is used.

  • Theft of plant, tools and machinery
  • Metal and lead theft from roofs and buildings
  • Theft of stock, tack and equipment
  • Vandalism and trespass at sensitive locations
  • Disruption to productions, visitors or residents

SITES

Specialist sites we protect

Each of these sites needs a plan built around what is at risk and how the site is used.

Plant and machinery hire depots

Yards and workshops holding high-value plant, tools, attachments and vehicles, often in large numbers.

Builders' merchants

Stock, materials and open yards that are repeatedly targeted.

Equestrian centres and stables

Security for horses, tack, trailers and equipment, often in rural settings.

Heritage sites and churches

Sensitive protection against metal theft, vandalism and trespass.

Film and TV locations

Discreet cover for sets, crew and equipment, including overnight unit bases and vehicle parks.

Caravan and holiday parks

Patrols and monitoring to protect residents, caravans and facilities.

TAILORED PLANS

Matching the response to what is at stake

For a plant hire depot or builders' merchant, the priority is usually the yard at night: fences, gates, parked machinery and stock. A dog team or guard gives a physical presence, while cameras cover the boundary and record evidence.

Heritage sites and churches need a lighter touch. Cameras and patrols can be positioned with care for the building and its setting, while still watching roofs, entrances and churchyards. Patrols can also check for signs of tampering, such as ladders or loose flashing, that suggest a site is being scouted. Equestrian centres combine rural risks with the welfare of animals, so any response has to be calm and well planned. For working farms, see our separate page on farm security.

Film and TV productions and holiday parks need officers who can deal politely with crew, guests and residents while keeping the site secure. Where a site sits empty for long periods, vacant property security may be a better fit, and building sites are covered under construction site security.

HOW IT WORKS

How we protect a specialist site

1

Threat assessment

We identify what is most at risk, how it could be taken or damaged, and any past incidents.

2

Tailored plan

We agree the combination of dogs, guards, patrols and cameras, and any sensitivities around the site.

3

Deployment

Officers are briefed on the site, its users and contacts, and cameras are placed with care.

4

Review

We adjust cover as risks, seasons or production schedules change.

FAQs

High-theft site security FAQs

How do you protect a plant hire depot overnight?

Most depots benefit from monitored cameras on the perimeter and yard, combined with a guard or dog team when high-value machinery is on site. Mobile patrols at varied times and alarm response can cover quieter periods. The mix depends on the value of stock, the layout and any history of theft.

Can you secure a church or heritage building without damaging it?

We plan camera positions and patrols with care for the building and its setting, using battery and solar-powered units that do not need cabling. Cover is focused on roofs, entrances and other areas at risk of metal theft, vandalism and trespass.

Do you provide security for film and TV productions?

Yes. We provide discreet, reliable officers to protect sets, crew, equipment and unit bases, including overnight when equipment is left on location. Cover can be arranged for the length of a shoot and moved between locations as the schedule requires.

Are security dogs suitable around horses and livestock?

Deployments at equestrian centres, livery yards and stables are planned with the animals in mind, including patrol routes and areas to avoid. Our NASDU-approved handlers keep full control of their dogs, and many sites use cameras and patrols as the main measures, with dogs covering yards and car parks.

Can you cover a caravan or holiday park?

Yes. Patrols and monitored cameras can protect caravans, facilities and entrances, and officers are briefed to deal courteously with residents and guests. Cover can be increased during busy holiday periods or reduced when the park is closed for the season.
