Farm Security and Farm CCTV
Protection for farmyards, machinery, fuel, livestock and outbuildings, built around remote locations and working days that start before dawn.
RURAL CRIME
The security challenge on a working farm
Farms are hard to secure. Yards sit well away from neighbours, fields have long boundaries with gateways onto quiet lanes, and valuable kit is spread across barns, sheds and open ground. Tractors, quad bikes, trailers, GPS units, tools and red diesel can all be moved quickly by people who have scouted the site in advance.
Livestock and crops add further worries, from animals being disturbed or taken to damage in fields. Many farms also double as homes, so a break-in at the yard is a threat to the family as well as the business. With a small team often out in the fields all day, nobody can watch everything.
- Machinery, quad bike and trailer theft
- Red diesel and fuel theft from bowsers and tanks
- Break-ins to barns, workshops and stores
- Livestock disturbance and theft
- Fly-tipping in gateways and field entrances

FARM CCTV
Farm CCTV that works without mains power
Running cable across a farm is rarely practical, which is why our farm CCTV uses battery and solar-powered cameras that send alerts over the mobile network. They can be placed at yard entrances, barns, fuel stores and access tracks, wherever the view is best rather than wherever there is a socket.
When a camera detects movement, it records a clip and sends it to the Alarm Receiving Centre. An operator checks what triggered it, so a fox or a sheep does not become a 3am call-out. If the activity is genuine, the agreed escalation follows: a call to you, to the police, or to a mobile officer. Footage is kept for 31 days.
For larger holdings or sites with repeat problems, a rapid deployment CCTV tower gives a raised view across a yard or field entrance. Smaller setups can use our wireless security cameras.
SERVICES
Farm security services
Cameras are the backbone of most farm security plans. People and dogs add a response on the ground when risk is high.
K9 security patrols
NASDU-approved dog teams cover open ground and outbuildings, using scent and hearing to find intruders across a dark yard.
Find out moreMobile patrols
Visits at varied times through the night, checking gates, sheds and fuel stores, useful at harvest or after incidents nearby.
Find out moreAlarm response
Officers attend alarm and camera activations so you are not walking out alone to investigate in the dark.
Find out moreKey holding
We hold keys for stores, offices and holiday lets on the farm, and attend when access is needed.
Find out moreStatic guards
SIA-licensed officers for events, open days, shows or short periods when high-value kit is on site.

Monitored cameras on gateways and lanes that are repeatedly used for dumping waste.

Building a practical farm security plan
Good farm security starts with the basics: knowing what is valuable, where it is kept and how someone would get to it. We walk the yard with you, look at entrances and tracks, and talk through how the farm operates day to day, including early starts, contractors and seasonal workers, so alerts are set to match when the yard is genuinely quiet.
We also help you put together a simple incident plan, so everyone knows who is called, in what order, and what happens after a break-in, a fire or an alarm. For farms with solar panels on the land, see our separate page on solar farm and battery storage security.
HOW IT WORKS
How we set up farm security
Farm walk-round
We identify entrances, blind spots and where machinery, fuel and stock are kept.
Camera and cover plan
We recommend camera positions, alert hours and any patrols or dog cover, with clear contacts for escalation.
Installation
Battery and solar units are installed and tested with minimal disruption to farm work.
Ongoing review
Cover is adjusted around harvest, lambing, shows and any change in local risk.
FAQs
Farm security FAQs
Will animals set off farm CCTV alerts all night?
Motion-triggered clips are reviewed by an operator at the Alarm Receiving Centre before any action is taken, so livestock, wildlife and blowing debris can be dismissed. Camera positions and alert hours are also set during installation to reduce unnecessary triggers around busy areas of the yard.
Can farm cameras cover fields and remote barns?
Yes. Our cameras run on battery and solar power and use the mobile network, so they can be placed at field gateways, access tracks and outlying barns without cabling. Coverage depends on mobile signal at the location, which we check when planning the installation.
Do you provide dog patrols on farms?
Yes. NASDU-approved dog and handler teams can patrol yards and outbuildings, which is particularly useful across large, unlit areas where a person on foot could easily be missed. Dog cover is often arranged for higher-risk periods, such as after a nearby theft, while cameras provide everyday protection.
Can you help if we already have our own cameras?
We can review your existing setup and advise on gaps in coverage. Depending on the equipment, we can add our own monitored cameras at key points, or provide mobile patrols and alarm response to act on alerts that your current system raises.
Do you cover farms outside the West Midlands?
Yes. We provide nationwide UK coverage and are available 24/7. Farm and estate security is arranged anywhere in the country, whether that is arable land in Lincolnshire, hill farms in Wales or livestock units in the Midlands.
