WAREHOUSE, INDUSTRIAL & UTILITIES
Warehouse and Industrial Security
Guarding, dog patrols and monitored cameras for warehouses, factories, waste and recycling sites and utility infrastructure.
THE RISK
What puts warehouses and industrial sites at risk
Warehouses hold stock, equipment and data that a business depends on. Distribution centres see a constant flow of vehicles, drivers and agency staff, so controlling who is on site is as important as locking up at night. A single break-in or lorry-load of missing goods can disrupt orders and damage relationships with customers.
Industrial, waste and utility sites face a different mix: metal and cable theft, arson, plant theft and trespass on large perimeters, often in hazardous conditions. Where a site supports critical infrastructure, even a small incident can lead to costly downtime.
- Theft of stock, trailers and equipment
- Unauthorised access through gates and loading bays
- Metal, cable and scrap theft
- Arson and vandalism on open storage areas
- Trespass on unmanned utility sites

Recycling and waste management sites
Cover against arson, trespass and theft across large, hazardous yards.
Scrap metal yards
Targeted protection for ferrous and non-ferrous stock that attracts thieves.
Utility and infrastructure sites
Substations, water facilities and telecoms masts where cable theft and downtime are critical risks.
Data centres and EV charging hubs
Layered security and access control for business-critical assets.
SERVICES

METAL THEFT
Protecting perimeters and preventing metal theft
Long, exposed perimeters are difficult to watch, and cable, copper and scrap can be worth a great deal to a thief. We combine visible patrols, access control and surveillance so that intruders are deterred at the fence and detected quickly if they get through.
On unmanned utility sites, monitored cameras send motion clips to the Alarm Receiving Centre for checking, and officers attend confirmed activations. On busy recycling or scrap yards, a dog team overnight adds a response that can search stacks and stockpiles where a person could hide. Handlers can also report damaged fencing, open doors or signs of fire during their rounds.
Officers are briefed on each site's hazards before they start, and our ISO 45001 certification supports the way we manage health and safety. Battery storage and solar assets have their own page on solar farm and BESS security, and fuel storage sites are covered under fuel depot security.
DISTRIBUTION
Security for busy logistics operations
In a distribution centre, security is part of daily operations. A gatehouse officer can check hauliers against booking information, record trailer numbers and seal details, and make sure visitors report to the right place. Patrols of the yard help spot trailers left unsecured or fences that have been tampered with.
After hours, the focus shifts to the building shell, the yard and parked trailers. Many sites use a guard during the week and add monitored CCTV or a dog team at weekends and over holiday shutdowns.
HOW IT WORKS
How we set up industrial site security
Site assessment
We review the perimeter, access points, operating hours, hazards and incident history.
Security plan
We agree the mix of guards, dogs, patrols and cameras, with site rules and escalation contacts.
Briefing and deployment
Officers complete your site induction and cameras are positioned on the most exposed areas.
Reporting and review
Shift and incident reports are shared, and cover is adjusted for shutdowns or new risks.
FAQs
Warehouse and industrial security FAQs
Can a guard manage the gatehouse at a distribution centre?
Yes. SIA-licensed officers can run gatehouse and weighbridge duties, checking vehicles and drivers, recording arrivals and departures, issuing visitor passes and making sure site safety rules are followed. This gives you a clear record of movements alongside security cover. Duties are agreed with you and written into the site instructions.
How do you protect unmanned substations or telecoms sites?
Unmanned infrastructure is usually protected with battery and solar-powered cameras that send motion alerts to the Alarm Receiving Centre, backed by alarm response and mobile patrols. Where a site has been targeted, a guard or dog team can be added for a period.
Are dogs suitable for recycling and scrap yards?
Yes. NASDU-approved dog and handler teams work well on large yards with stockpiles and machinery, where intruders can hide out of camera view. Handlers are briefed on the site's hazards and restricted areas before patrols begin, and patrol routes are planned around moving plant and stockpiles.
Can you cover a factory during a shutdown?
Yes. Shutdown periods leave buildings empty for days or weeks. Static guards, patrols, key holding and temporary CCTV can be arranged for the exact dates, with reporting so you know the site has been checked throughout and any issues were dealt with.
Do you cover industrial estates with several units?
Yes. Mobile patrols can check multiple units on one route, and alarm response can be arranged for each tenant or for the estate as a whole, with keys held securely and reporting set up to suit the landlord or managing agent.
